Do you know what’s in style for Fall? Lena Duhnam does. And, she’s looking fit as the cover girl for British label, ASOS’ catalog. Except one tiny thing. The folks at ASOS decided Lena’s face looked better in the third picture down (middle image) and Photoshopped it onto this cover image! I only noticed it because I had the photos side-by-side. But now I can’t stop starring at the jagged cut along her neck. No good. Other than that, I love her so much and am excited to know that she has written a book with a collection of essays tentatively titled “Not That Kind of Girl: Advice by Lena Dunham.” Apparently the essays will cover an array of topics, taking inspiration from Helen Gurley Brown’s book called Having It All. I’m definitely interested to read her take on life and relationships. Do you think it’s something you would read?

Lena Dunham Naked at the Emmys!

In a cheeky skit from last night’s Emmys, Zooey Deschanel and Christina Hendricks practice their “I can’t believe I won!” face in the mirror of a public restroom to be interrupted by the sound of crying. With other cameos popping in (Cathy Bates, Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus) they open one of the stalls to find none other than Lena Dunham sitting on the throne in her birthday suit eating an entire cake! And if I do say so, is sporting an adorable short haircut and killer smokey eye make-up. Watch the entire skit here [scroll to the very bottom of the page]. It’s so so funny and sort of expected actually. Season 2 of HBO’s Girls won’t be back on the air until sometime in 2013. Le sigh.

Ok, I’ll say it proudly: I love the viral song-and-dance “Gangnam Style” video that is now being spoofed not only on SNL but by Navy Shipmates! These boys are so cute in their white uniforms doing a synchronized dance to the techno song. I don’t think you can watch it without smiling, at least a little.

Venus & Serena on the cover of NYT’s mag

Without a doubt, my favorite sport has remained Tennis. Some of my earliest memories are of my mom playing tennis with her fabulous wooden Wilson racket, while my sister and I sat on the sidelines. I remember when the Williams sisters began playing grand slams. It was Venus who was the first to make her debut and then Serena quickly followed. I secretly have always been a bigger Venus fan, only because I’m an older sister myself and still feel the oldest should automatically win at everything. :) Kind of like how I felt entitled to sit in the front seat of the car growing up — just because of my age. (Oldest siblings, can you sympathize?) I’ve watched the Williams girls go from gangly teens to graceful women dominating the sport. I’ve never grown tired of seeing their sibling rivalry combined with complete affection for one another and feel a rather kinship towards them. On the cover of New York Times Magazine, they stand united, holding hands, and looking confidant as sisters, best friends, with a look in their eyes that says to me “I know what your next move is.” Which I can totally relate to with my own sister.

Le1f, Rapper that brings Gay Pride to Hip Hop

In a genre known for its homophobia, Le1f, a New York rapper who isn’t timid about his sexuality, makes his debut with quite possibly the song of the summer called “Wut.” I’ve been watching the video on repeat where Le1F raps faster than Busta Rhymes, booty dances in a nineties style grind with sexy girls in the background; he then sits on muscle-men’s laps and twirls chewing gum around his finger like a valley girl. Le1f says he was greatly inspired by Dizzee Rascall and M.I.A., which you can hear in the catchy, finger-wagging, face-scrunching background beats. Watch it now so you can say you knew him before anyone else did.

Damien Hirst re-designs flag for the Olympics

How will you spend your television viewing nights now that the Olympics are over? Frankly, I’m at a bit of a loss. To close out the London 2012 Summer Olympics, one of Britain’s most famous artists, Damien Hirst, was invited to re-design the Union Jack. Hirst drew upon his signature spin painting style in red, white and blue to a massive stage. The result? Well, nothing short of a Damien Hirst explosion of course, set in the background of London’s finest. Shall we look forward to Russia’s 2014 Winter Olympics? Where do you think you’ll be then?
