Oh happy spring

Last week was one of the most stressful weeks that I have ever had. It was the kind of week that was gruelingly long due to the bazillion things I was juggling, but also sped by at enormous pace. I was having a hard time controlling my emotions and spent most of the week wanting to cry my way through it. Not to mention everything in the news. The world is so sad right now. The tragedy in Japan is heart wrenching; and the conflict in Libya, Egypt and Yemen are so upsetting. Are we going to war with Libya? It’s torture to read the Washington Post and NYTs. I don’t even want to know anymore. And in other more sensational news, the most bizarre killing just happened at the yoga store, Lululemon in Bethesda—very close to where my mom works. If you haven’t heard this story, it’s so horrible. A friend at work told me Mercury is in retrograde. I generally don’t follow the Zodiac, but something has to explain all of the turmoil. I almost feel bad to post this, but despite everything, I had such a nice weekend, spending the majority of it with my dearest friend Erin. We had our nails done in Dupont Circle in celebration to spring (happy first official day!), I chose the girliest pink ever and love it. We went off to Bloomingdale’s to find a sexy nighty for my sweet friend’s bachelorette party on Saturday night. I love more than anything Bloomingdale’s service. Living in the city has hardened me. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought something in a store from a grumpy sales person who acts like they are doing me a favor. It drives me nuts! What ever happened to the old-fashioned “thank you for shopping here, have a nice day”? Is that really so hard? Well, you can find it at Bloomies. Wouldn’t it be nice to only shop there? Ha. After finding the cutest silky, baby blue little number, Erin and I walked over to the make-up counter. I’ve been wanting a fabulous non-CVS bright orange shade of lipstick. (I’m really into lipstick right now.) We popped over to the Laura Mercier counter. Two and a half hours later, Erin and I left the store with our faces totally transformed by Ms. Mercier’s products. From a moisturizer, serum, primer, eye cream, to eyeliner, eyebrow liner (it enhances, nothing too dramatic!), several blends of eyeshadow, and blush; our lips were lined and blotted with a tissue. By the way, all of this was done for-free! And we looked like a million bucks. Good thing we had a party to attend! I don’t have those kind of days many times in a year. But piling it all into one day was a perfect way to detox from the week. The sun was out, and the air was mild. Here’s to you spring. And you a calmer week ahead.
