At times, I found it hard to not be totally cliche while walking through the streets of Paris. But here, I had to sing “Because we can, can, can!” — From, you know, Moulin Rouge.

We found ourselves at Pigalle Place, after having drinks with my sister and her friends at a Rock-n-Roll bar in the area. We thought it was cute that the DJ played endless songs by Nirvana, but then would switch to songs off the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, and then abruptly play some Crosby Stills Nash and Young. Nonetheless, I knew all the words to the songs and was happy to sing along as we ordered another round. As you can see from the pictures, Pigalle Place is the sort of red light district in Paris with a ton of sex shops, peep shows, strip clubs, cabarets and probably whatever else you can imagine. I feel like we were lucky to have gotten out of the bar so late and be able to walk along the streets to snap these colorful neon pictures. Seeing Moulin Rouge was super fun; that pinwheel spins all night long.
