Have you seen Kate Moss’ fairytale wedding photos to Jamie Hince? Her dress was SO beautiful and the flower girls couldn’t have been more precious.
In the photo above, Terry Richardson captures the newlyweds in bed at the Ritz, the day after their wedding. I spy a nip!
Prettiest Wedding Lingerie and Accoutrements

And just when I was acting like a super-hater, talking to my friend Jen at Etsy Wedding saying [in a high-shrieky voice] “I don’t think Anthropologie’s wedding dresses are that great.” I received the email at 3:59pm today displaying all BHLDN’s (a.k.a. Beholden) clothing and accessories in all their vintage-but-fits-like-new glory. And I take it all back. In fact I immediately sent the link to Jen saying “I was wrong! They’re beautiful! I’m so jealous!” I won’t go and post my favorite wedding dresses, which I’m sure are already all over the internet. But as I searched, I thought “If I could do it all over again…!!!” I clicked the lingerie tab and saw this (top left) simple, slinky and sensuous number. Whipping out my credit card, or better yet, do they take Paypal?, imagining myself in it, I thought “don’t mind me…I’m just doing the dishes,” or better yet “blogging,” or far worse: “watching reruns of The Office!” [in my glorious peignoir]. While I’m at it, let’s play dress up. Lacey knickers would be perfect; as would soft white pumps with a feather (although not ideal for my size 9.5 feet); and let’s not forget lacy gloves—the kind your grandmother had. I’m in la la land.
Happy Weekend

Do you have a three-day weekend? Today, Daryle and I are driving back up to Buffalo for his best friend’s (and best man in our wedding) wedding. All of the leaves are still green in DC so it will be fun to watch the leaves change as we drive farther north. I’m really excited to get out-of-town for a few days and return to the place we got married. This evening, Daryle will be at the groom’s bachelor party, so I will be hitting the town with Beth, Daryle’s cousin and her friends! Amidst the festivities, I hope to visit Coo Coo U, our favorite mid-century shop in Buffalo. If I find anything, I will be sure to report back. Enjoy the weekend!

Adorable sixties inspired short (wedding) dress

How darling is this Lilly Pulitzer little number? I am completely smitten with it. The dress reminds me of the dress Betty Draper had on when she met Henry Francis at Roger Sterling’s party in Season 3 of Mad Men. It would make such a cute wedding dress for a spring time gathering, don’t you think?

I’m baaaack! (from Maui with love)

Oh hello, hello, hello! My God, I am back, married and honeymooned; feeling madly in love, gloriously giddy over the celebrations that we’ve had, stirred with a twist of sadness that it is all over. Daryle and I traveled up to Buffalo, NY for our wedding that was on Saturday, August 21st at the historic Saturn Club. In Buffalo, we had three jam-packed days of parties: A Friday rehearsal dinner then afterparty all held at the Anchor Bar (the place that invented Buffalo wings). Saturday was our wedding (hearts and stars). I have always heard that weddings are never up to ones expectations, but ours exceeded mine. It couldn’t have been lovelier having the greatest people in our lives there to witness and celebrate our big day. Sunday, we had a brunch and then whisked off to Erie County, about 20 miles from Buffalo, where we relaxed with remaining family and friends at Daryle’s best friend’s lake house; we had a beach bonfire and danced about.
On Monday after the wedding Daryle and I traveled back to DC to drop off our things and fly out on Tuesday to Maui (or as we say the cat’s call it “Meowie” — yes we are crazy cat people). Like the wedding, we were blown away by Maui. It really is a tropical paradise where you can experience total relaxing alone on the beach or hiking without a soul in site, combined with phenomenal restaurants, adorable island art galleries, live (islandy) music wherever you go and the warmest, most genuinely happy locals you’ve ever met (except while driving next to them on the highways). Daryle was so taken by the island that he actually said at one point “that’s it, sell the house, and send for the cats. We’re never going back.” Oh, but here we are, at home and in the city. Where do we go from here? I don’t know, but I do know that I have a partner standing next to me every step of the way.
Oh, I’m not finished talking about the last two weeks. More to come…pictures from the wedding, and pictures and a Guide to Maui.
Nice day for a white wedding

***I actually wrote this the day of the wedding (8/21/10) and never posted it. Pretend I did. :)***
Here I am in Buffalo, standing in front of City Hall, one of the most beautiful buildings in this city. Daryle and I picked up our marriage license a couple days ago and according to the State of New York, after we say our vows, I will legally be Katie Maciocha! Today is the BIG day that I walk down the aisle with all of my family and friends to witness. I cannot believe that this day has come. Here I am ready to embark on a new journey forming a union with the most loving, supportive and super hotty man that I’ve ever met. I Doooooo!
Mason jar + wildflowers

Hello! I’m on total deadline with one day left in town. Ecks. My dear friend / coworker / also blogger from Etsy Wedding brought me this adorable mini mason jar filled with wild flowers. She’s testing it out for her own wedding in September. Sigh. Love.
Yeah, so, I’m getting married really really soon

So, I’ve become the girl that I thought I wouldn’t be. I won’t stop talking about my wedding. I think my coworkers probably want to strangle me. And my poor, poor intern who is in earshot of my desk has heard each of my joys and concerns at least seven times! There are just so many little, tiny details that I need to decide on. So many things that I need to oversee to make sure they come together in a nice enough fashion.
But really, I am SO effing excited for this day to come. I cannot believe the friends and family members that are making the journey to Buffalo to be there for Daryle and me. I could weep I am so happy, I am weeping! We are planning a beautiful ceremony with music and readings that reflect us. (I will include details later…) Until then, I’m sorry for not blogging more. It is my love, my creative outlet, but it will be pretty sporadic from here on through after the wedding and honeymoon.
My wedding is 11 days away, so close that I can almost see the 10-day forecast (fingers crossed it doesn’t rain). Omg. Omg.
Sapphire+Diamond Wedding Band
August 4, 2010 at 9:43 pm | Posted in wedding | 1 CommentTags: diamond, platinum, sapphire, sapphire wedding band, wedding band

This morning, Daryle and I visited the same jeweler that made my engagement ring to pick out wedding bands. When we first arrived, I thought I knew what my plan was for the wedding band. I wanted exactly the same shape of my engagement ring, but without the diamond in the center. Instead, when I tried that on, I thought it was overpowering and unattractive. The jeweler explained that good design was a ring that wouldn’t detract the beauty of the engagement ring, but would also stand well on its own. After trying on a dozen rings, I was in absolute awe over [the pictured] band that has alternating three square sapphire stones flush against three tiny diamond dots. The result is a graphically beautiful designed ring with a slight beveled edge on either side. I had never in a million years thought I would ever want any stone other than a diamond on my wedding band. But there I was taken aback by its beauty. Daryle’s ring is a lovely compliment to mine that is squared off with a very thin bevel on the top and bottom, matching the style of mine. I have been emotional all day thinking about the life that we are about to embark on, the history we will share, and how those rings will be a symbol of us as a family that we are about to become.
[Update 8/5/10: A little bird told me that the wedding bands are supposed to be a secret to share after we get married. So I blurred out the rings even though I am leaving the description because I was in such a lovey state when I wrote about them. If you saw the pre-edited picture, just act surprised when you see it in real life.!]
