Dream mid-century home in Portland

I’ve been in DC for eight years now and easily get wanderlust about a lot of places that I travel to. My poor husband has to listen to me go on and on about how much better the [fill in the blank] town is than DC and how it would be so perfect to live there. But as I mentioned before, Portland was the one place that we both were awestruck by. So what do I do? I am a whiz at researching cost of living, crime statistics, public schools, and even local creative jobs. I’ll go as far as looking up houses for sale in various neighborhoods. You could say it’s a hobby. :) I was really excited to find a website entirely dedicated to mid-century real-estate in Portland. It couldn’t be more perfectly our taste! Gah! And wow, what do ya know, this house pops up. The most dreamy, glass house with backyard zen garden and amazing views—just six miles outside the downtown area. I’ll take it!
I thought I had all of the Portland posts out of my system, but had to include just one more. I hope I never have Portland out of my system. With love.
Firefly

I am in love with summer. I know a lot of people complain about the heat—and DC is certainly no exception. As hot as it is, I don’t mind it. I feel more alive. My mind is charged from the sun and from the long days that slowly turn to night.
This evening I had a special moment where I simply sat in my backyard. Since it rained earlier in the day, my garden didn’t need watering. So I sat. I sat and watched the fireflies wake up and flash their little light. It’s funny how long I can go without actually relaxing—there is always something to do. But tonight was different. Maybe the fireflies will be expecting me tomorrow.
The Brother’s Bloom

I am so psyched to see this movie. Personally I can’t think of a finer cast. Adrien Brody? Hot. Mark Ruffalo? Smoking. I promise this blog will not turn into a list of my latest hearthrobs, but I just have to give a shout to those two guys. Not to mention the lovelier than thou Rachel Weisz.
Anyone care to join me on a movie date?

I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for quite awhile. I’ve concocted the name, designed (but not finalized) the header, thought about what type of posts to write about. I have daydreamed about becoming a famous blogger and working from home and living off all the amazing advertisers that are dying to have their product on my blog. Then I come to this. The first post. And. I have stage fright. So here. Here is a beautiful photo that I came across. It’s an image that makes me happy. It makes me want to visit New Mexico. I want to share it to whoever is out there. The blog starts here.
